Description:

It is used as principle ingredient in frying . Chilli powder has the property to produce  colour and bitter pungent taste  in food. Hot potency [intence] of chilli powder irritates skin and mucous membrane thatís why it may cause harmto the gatro oesophageal tract. In pitta prakriti persons  it produces complications. One should use milk and ghee to counter its harmful effects. Green chilli is a source of Vit.C .

Rasa : Katu (pungent)
Guna : Laghu (light), ruksha(dry), tiksna(sharp)
Vipaka : Katu (pungent)
Virya : Ushna (hot)
Doshakarma :  

 

Chemical constituent:

It contains capsaicin-the pungency and acridity is due to capsacin, Volatile alkaloids-salanidine and solasodine, volatile oil, fixed oil, fatty acids, resin and red colouring matter and ash

Medicinal Properties:

Carminative, digestive, tonic, irritant.

 

Medicinal uses:

Lumbago, neuralgia, rheumatic disorders, anorexia, indigestion, flatulence, Diphtheria and adenoids [paste form], skin disorders [sarshap taila], headache [kaphaja], dog bite [helps to remove the poison] throat disease [gargle]
